Last year when I set out in the morning for the 20min walk to university, I usually allowed myself 18mins, meaning I was always in a rush. I found myself each day bumping into friends on the way and saying “Sorry! Can’t stop to chat, I’m gonna be late for lecture!” For a whole year I missed out on not only a good seat in lecture each day, but also good opportunities to strengthen bonds with those who happened to cross my path.
Always schedule time in your diary for the unschedulable.
