I sometimes catch myself waiting. Waiting for someone else to come up with an idea. Waiting for my friend to let me know they’ve been thinking about me. Waiting for my partner to be the first to say ‘I’m sorry’. Waiting for a situation to change so I’m happier, more content, or better off. The thing I’ve realised is – nothing much tends to happen when you’re just passively waiting around for it. Chances are, everyone else is doing the same thing. Being the initiator means you choose to step up. You take responsibility for making your desired reality happen. It’s getting your brain in gear to generate an awesome idea or plan, then suggesting it to others. It’s emailing your friend to say ‘Hey, I appreciate you, I’ve been thinking about you, and I’m keen to catch up soon – let’s organise a time.’ It’s swallowing your pride and being the first to say sorry. It’s looking at an undesirable situation, figuring out the steps you need to take and then actioning them – immediately! People love hanging out with an initiator. By living life actively, rather than passively, you empower them to become one as well. So stop waiting around and … Be an Initiator FollowShare...
